Immortality and Immorality

The relationship between immortality and immorality is as close as the words look similar – just the letter ‘T’ makes all the difference between the two words. Immortality is, however, closely linked with immorality. What would you do if you were immortal – if you knew you would never die?

In a finite world, immortality magnifies infinity. In today’s mortal world, everything has a time-limit; a clock ticking:

  • Your career will last for 30-40 years.
  • Your childhood, teenage, youth and middle age, all have timelines
  • The property you own has a timeline- the upper limit being your age
  • If you commit a crime, your punishment is time-based or aims at ending your time on earth
  • Your relationships – all have a time factor
  • The blessing called death – every greed comes to a standstill with this word

In the absence of this timeline due to immortality, the following are the repercussions:

  • Your career will last a looooong time OR you may be able to choose multiple careers – hopping from one to another if bored.
  • Nobody knows which stage (childhood, teenage, youth and old age) will last how much time- perhaps there might not be the concept of old age at all
  • Your property will be yours until you wish or loose it – there is no inheritance.
  • Sins can be infinite – make all kinds of sins – after-all the gap between the ending of one sin and the beginning of punishment disappears.

Lastly, you will never have the peace called ‘death’. Often, we hear people say, let things go on as they are; after all we are all going to die one day.

The comfort of death is no longer exists and your existence will be a football from one eternity to another.
